The Amazon of Philanthropy – 1-Click Now for Prime Year-End Giving tips

The Amazon of Philanthropy – 1-Click Now for Prime Year-End Giving tips

As 2018 winds down and the holidays are now almost behind us, the Amazon Prime boxes with the signature blue and black tape are making their way to the curb, it’s still not too late to plan your tax-saving annual giving strategies.

After all, in this “get it now” convenience of cyber shopping, who reading here hasn’t clicked on the hot 35 list of last-minute holiday gifts on Amazon just 4 days ago?

Well just like that, your Community Foundation can provide several easy tax-wise giving solutions that come with all the benefits like an Amazon Prime account. When you give to the things you care about through the Southwest Florida Community Foundation, you get easy and convenient as well as impactful giving strategies to save your philanthropy dollars for the highest affect.

Here are some benefits and more that are just a click or a phone call away, and you can simply toss these in your shopping cart:

Itemizing and need to give to charity but not sure which ones yet? Consider a donor advised fund. Donor advised funds serve as a philanthropic checkbook for donors who wish to give to a variety of organizations or causes over the year.

Worried about paying capital gains on appreciated assets and want to support something you care about? Whether securities or property, consider giving it to the Foundation to start a donor advised fund or start a scholarship fund now. We stand ready to accept transfers until the end of business December 31, 2018.

Need a tax deduction now but also want income for life? Consider a Charitable Gift Annuity (CGA), Charitable Remainder Unitrust or Annuity Trust. The Foundation can run your birthdate and produce a proposal to show you what you can get in income and how much you can deduct now and later.

Need to take your required distribution from your IRA at 70 1/2 years of age but don’t want to pay the tax? Consider rolling it into a fund at the Community Foundation for the causes or organizations you care about. Give it all away now or endow it for the future.

Are you bunching your deductions every other year because of the new tax law passed last December? Consider putting your charitable contributions into a donor advised fund so you can keep on giving like you do each year and take advantage of the tax deduction in a different year.

Want to give a gift in memory or honor of someone special this holiday season? Want it to last forever? Consider a customized gift in that person’s name to one of our specialty funds that supports a cause important to you (click here for a list of specialty funds), or start a fund or scholarship in his/her name.

You can use our 1-Click Option to give now for the tax receipt and decide later how to give it away, or we can help you develop a giving plan long or short-term – whatever you like. Our development team is working overtime this holiday season to accommodate these customizable gifts and the giving experience. Just click on our website at www.floridacommunity.com, send us an email at [email protected] or give me a call at 239-274-5900.
