About the Southwest Florida

We believe that to bring real change to our region, we need to think differently, and act differently. Over the last few years, we’ve done just that by working with donors, citizens, nonprofit agencies, and business, government and education leaders.

As a regional leader in social innovation and change, the Southwest Florida Community Foundation does 3 important things:

1. We look for opportunities to make our community better and brighter and rally people around these opportunities to seek solutions together.

2. We help people invest their charitable dollars in causes they care about most so that their philanthropy has the most impact.

3. We award grants and invest our resources in organizations that are making life better for people of our regional community.

With assets of more than $126 million, the Southwest Florida Community Foundation has provided more than $78.2 million in grants and scholarships to the communities it serves.

Last year (2019), the Community Foundation granted more than $6 million to nonprofit organizations supporting education, animal welfare, arts, healthcare and human services, as well as provided regional community impact grants and scholarship grants.

Grant programs:

Community Impact Grants
Through this signature grant program, the Community Foundation honors the donors and/or donor families who created permanently endowed funds with the Community Foundation.  We honor our fundholders’ intent to connect their philanthropic legacies with issues currently impacting our community’s quality of life.

We refer to the nonprofit organizations that have received a grant from the Community Foundation as “grantees,” but our signature term is “tribe” or “grantee tribe,” to distinguish the group.
